History

678, Franche-Comté becomes French.

1707, the Principality of Neuchâtel passes to the King of Prussia.

1766, demarcation between the Kingdom of France and the Principality of Neuchâtel. The territory of Cerneux-Péquignot belongs to France.

1805, the King of Prussia cedes the Principality to Napoleon, who transfers it in 1806 to Marshal Berthier.

1814, Napoleon’s first abdication. The Hundred Days. Napoleon’s second abdication after Waterloo.

1814/1815, the Congress of Vienna redraws the borders of European states. Neuchâtel becomes a Swiss canton. Integration of the French commune of Cerneux-Péquignot into the new canton.

1819, the political decisions of 1814 and 1815 are marked on the border by boundary stones dated 1819.
